National Dodgeball Finals 2024

Once again, our pupils from Year 5 and 6 made it to the dodgeball National Primary Schools
Championships Finals 2024!

Improving on last year’s position, our nine pupils came third at the Southwest regional
tournament qualifying to go to Nottingham.

Once there, the atmosphere was electric, the halls were filled with friendly coaches and pupils
from schools all over England. A pupil said: "It was amazing being there! We all had so much
fun it didn't matter if we came first or not, we just focused on collaborating."

Our team came eighth overall, out of the twenty schools in the finals which is a great result.
The cherry on the cake was that one team member was crowned second in the country in the
dodgeball speed throwing competition: the ball he threw managed to reach the terrifying
speed of 64 kilometres per hour (39.7 miles)!

When asked about the tournament, Coach K said: "We don't go there to win, we're there to
teach the children about good sportsmanship and how to win or lose gracefully. Because of
this, no matter the result, our team always receives positive feedback."

Her statement rings true as a family from a different team wrote to us on behalf of their
school reading:

"We were moved to get in touch with you after witnessing the exemplary behaviour of your
children and staff at the National Dodgeball Championships. Despite being an excellent
dodgeball team, their respect, attitude, sportsmanship and kindness were what made them
stand out most against the competition. Our daughter was even comforted and inspired by
Ms. Masmoudi after a difficult match (and a little chat about Liverpool)!
Please extend our admiration, compliments, thanks and best wishes to Ms. Giachnaki, Ms.
Masmoudi and all of the Kilburn Grange team.”

We are extremely proud of our pupils for their sportsmanship and conduct. Kudos to the
team, Coach K, and Ms Masmoudi!
