Science

At Kilburn Grange School we believe that scientific investigation is one of the most powerful ways to learn; developing curiosity and perseverance as well as challenging what we know about the world. We aim to make science as practical as possible, linking it to real-life contexts and giving meaning to our learning.

Science is taught weekly using the Developing Experts scheme of work. The lessons are structured so that key knowledge and inquiry skills will be repeated and revisited throughout the academic year, enabling children to develop a strong foundation of scientific knowledge and academic curiosity, preparing them for their next steps of learning.

Science lessons are mostly practical, allowing children to use a wide range of resources to lead the learning and make their own discoveries. This allows children to develop the key skills of investigation, problem-solving and teamwork which, in turn, empowers pupils to question the world around them and become scientific thinkers.

The most important thing is to never stop questioning. – Albert Einstein
